Brady's Big Boy Bed

We finally decided it was time to move Brady over to his own big boy bed, since his baby brother will be here in 9 weeks or less. Today is also his 2 1/2 year old birthday! I have known for a while that he was ready, but I was just not ready to give up his good sleeping behaviors in his crib or admit that he is no longer my baby. He has been such a good sleeper and has never tried to escape the crib, which has made me hesitant about moving him to his own bed.

Over the past couple of weekends we have painted his new room and today we put the bed rails on, along with his new bedding, and hung his curtains. We still have lots of other things to do before his room is complete, but we wanted to go ahead and start the transition into the bed in case it takes a while for him to adjust to.

So far he has been in his room for 30 minutes and I haven't heard him escape, so I am keeping my fingers crossed that this is a smooth transition for us all. I have to admit it is a little bittersweet to see my baby in a big bed! I will post some more pictures of the room once we get everything moved over and decorated.

3D Ultrasound

I am 29 weeks and I had my 3D ultrasound today. They didn't do any measurements this time since I go back for my regular appointment next week at 30 weeks. They will check his size and my fluids then, so we were able to just enjoy our ultrasound today. After seeing his sweet face, we cannot wait to meet this little guy in a few more months.

New Camry

We finally decided to trade in our 2002 Honda Civic. That was my first big purchase, I bought it when I was 19. I loved that car but 10 years and 2 kids later, a 2 door car didn't seem so practical for a family vehicle. For the past couple of years it has primarily been Joe's car to drive back and forth to work, and very rarely would we take Brady out in it, just because getting in and out of a car seat was such a pain. For the past few months we have been researching cars and totally fell in love with the Toyota Camry SE. We have really enjoyed our Rav 4 so we decided another Toyota it would be.

Well Hello 3rd Trimester: 28 Weeks Update

I am so glad to be in the final trimester. Even though it seems like the time is flying by, I am starting to get pretty miserable already. I am larger then I was with Brady. At my doctors appointment this week I was measuring 34 weeks, which is 7 weeks a head of where I am. They did an ultrasound to check on baby and he looks good, he weighs approximately 2lbs 7oz and is still around 60th percentile, which is slightly smaller then Brady was at this stage. I do have borderline high amniotic fluid, so they are going to do another ultrasound at 30 weeks to check the levels again and to see how much baby has grown. I have already gained 21 lbs, and hope that my weight gain will slow down a little. The past 2 months have not been very kind to me in the weight gain department. I also had my Glucola test, to check for Gestational Diabetes. I haven't heard back yet, so I am hoping that is good news!

Potty Time

We have decided to slowly introduce Brady to potty training. I am going to try and not stress about it too much, because I know it will probably be a long process and I am also not so sure that he is quite ready. We bought a potty a while back and put it in his bathroom. The seat is removable and will fit down on our regular toilet seat. Brady never has been a fan of sitting on his potty, so instead we put the seat onto the toilet. At first he would scream and cry if I tried to put him on it, but slowly he has gotten use to it. On the July 4th I decided to set him on the potty, with a book of course, and low and behold he pee pee'd on the potty twice. Several books later, he decided he was done and ready to get up.

July 4th

In our county every year there is a Peach Festival on July 4th, so we decided to head out on the morning of the 4th and check it out. Since it was so hot we didn't stay too long, just long enough to walk around and check everything out. We headed out around lunch time and decided to have lunch somewhere inside where it was nice and cool, did a little shopping and then headed home to relax. After it got dark Joe put on a mini fireworks display in the backyard for Brady. Brady was so funny watching the fireworks, we even made some chocolate chip cookies to enjoy during the show.

Surprise 50th Birthday Party

My Mom turned the big "50" on June 25th, and we had a surprise party for her this past Saturday at the park. We had been planning this party for several months and it just happened to be the hottest weekend of the year thus far, with temperatures close to 100! My Mamaw Shirley and Aunt Lorrie did most of the planning and work since I live out of state, and they did such a great job! I wish I would have taken more pics but between the heat and chasing a wild 2 year old around, I just didn't get it done. Since the party was the park the kids did get a chance to do a little swimming in the pool. Aunt Jordan took Brady in the kiddie pool to cool off for a bit! Of course we had to pull him out kicking and screaming when it was time to go.
